Dry lips are not only a winter thing. Long hours in air conditioning, not drinking enough water and the habit of licking your lips all leave them flaky and sore at any time of year. Kishmi's lip balm keeps it simple: shea butter to soften and beeswax to hold the moisture in.
Why lips dry out faster than the rest of your face
Lip skin is thinner than facial skin, has no oil glands of its own and loses water several times faster. Anything that pulls moisture from the air, from a Jaipur winter to an office air conditioner to a long flight, pulls it from the lips first. Licking them adds saliva that evaporates and takes more moisture with it, which is why the habit makes chapped lips worse.
What beeswax and shea butter do
Shea butter is rich in fatty acids that soften dry, cracked skin. Beeswax forms a thin, breathable layer on top that keeps that moisture from escaping, so one application lasts longer between top-ups. There is nothing in the formula that stings, tingles or flavours; it is a barrier balm, and that is the whole point. Because it contains beeswax, it is not vegan; every other Kishmi product is.
How to use it
Scoop a little with a clean fingertip and smooth it over bare lips whenever they feel dry. Put on a thick layer before bed for very dry or cracked lips and let it work overnight. It also makes a smooth base under lipstick when lips feel rough. The 10 g jar fits in a pocket or the smallest bag, which is the real secret of lip care: the balm you actually have with you is the one that works.
Lips and the rest of your routine
If you use retinol or exfoliating acids on your face, expect drier lips in the first weeks; keep the actives off the lip line and apply the balm last, after everything else. Never put a face scrub or an acid on the lips themselves. Remove lipstick fully at night, because pigment left on dry lips is what peels in the morning. Lips that crack at the corners, bleed, or blister with a tingling patch are a different problem from dryness: see a doctor rather than a balm.
Questions about lip care
Is this lip balm good for dark lips?+
It is made for dryness and chapping, not pigmentation. Keeping lips moisturised and stopping the licking and peeling that come with dryness does help them look healthier, but it is not a lightening product and we do not claim it is.
Lip balm kitni baar lagana chahiye?+
Jab bhi lips dry lagein. Raat ko sone se pehle ek moti layer lagayein taaki raat bhar kaam kare. Lipstick ke neeche bhi laga sakte hain.
Can men use it?+
Yes. It has no colour, no shine and no fragrance; it only softens and protects. Chapped lips are a skin problem, not a gendered one.
Does it contain SPF?+
No. For long hours in direct sun, apply your face sunscreen over the lips too, or use a lip product with SPF on top.
